Course Assessments

Competency is assessed through a combination of knowledge refreshment and practical application:

• Theory Review: Instructor led discussions and knowledge checks to reinforce core safety principles and highlight current industry best practices.
• Practical Assessment: Direct observation of practical skills and emergency response techniques, including rescue exercises and evacuations (where applicable).

For Who

This course is for Wind Turbine Technicians and offshore/onshore personnel whose current GWO Working at Height certifications are within their renewal window. It is designed to maintain continued competence and ensure ongoing access to wind farm sites globally, including:

• Wind Turbine Technicians and Engineers
• Subcontractors and Site Inspectors
• Project Managers and Safety Officers requiring turbine access

Purpose

The GWO Working at Height Refresher module is a core element of the Global Wind Organisation Basic Safety Training Refresher. It is designed for individuals working in wind turbine environments who need to renew their certification, maintaining the essential knowledge and practical skills required to work safely at height in both onshore and offshore wind energy operations. The course reinforces awareness of fall hazards, correct use of personal protective equipment, and the application of safe climbing and rescue techniques to ensure continued safe working practices in a turbine environment.

Prerequisites

• A valid (non-expired) GWO Working at Height  or Refresher certificate.
• A high level of physical fitness and a “Fit for Work" health declaration that is completed on arrival.
• A valid form of photographic identification on the day of training.
• A minimum age of 18 years.
• A valid GWO WINDA ID.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English.

Note: This course is physically demanding; participants must be comfortable with heights and physically capable of climbing and lifting

Note: Training must be completed before the expiry date of the current certificates to be classified as a Refresher.
