Purpose

The GWO Manual Handling Refresher module is a core element of the Global Wind Organisation Basic Safety Training Refresher. It is designed for individuals working in wind turbine environments who need to renew their certification, maintaining the essential knowledge and practical skills required to safely plan, assess, and carry out manual handling tasks in both onshore and offshore wind energy operations. The course reinforces correct lifting techniques, safe movement of loads, and the application of ergonomic principles to reduce the risk of musculoskeletal injury in confined turbine environments.

Prerequisites

• A valid (non-expired) GWO Manual Handling or Refresher certificate.
• A high level of physical fitness and a “Fit for Work" health declaration that is completed on arrival.
• A valid form of photographic identification on the day of training.
• A minimum age of 18 years.
• A valid GWO WINDA ID.
• The ability to communicate effectively in English.

Note: This course is physically demanding; participants must be comfortable and physically capable of lifting and moving loads.

Note: Training must be completed before the expiry date of the current certificates to be classified as a Refresher.
